THE CAMPAIGN TO BRIDGE THE GENERATIONAL DIVIDE.

A VISION FOR THE FUTURE OF THE CONSERVATIVE PARTY

Age is the new dividing line of politics - it is now a stronger indication of voting intention than class, gender or race. For every ten years younger a person is, they are nine points less likely to vote Conservative.

Our first report sets out a vision for the future of the Conservative Party, centred around work, home and family.

THE KEY ISSUES

WORK

Younger people face a higher tax burden than any other age group, with the average graduate now paying a marginal rate of 51% between the age of 33 and 47.

HOME

The number of middle income 25 to 34 year olds owning their own home has plummeted from almost two thirds in 1997 to barely a fifth twenty years later.

FAMILY

The average cost of sending a child to nursery is now over £13,000 per year. Without targeted action, more couples will be faced with a choice between careers or children.
